There is a connection between health and fitness and a child's academic attainment. That is why children at Quainton Hall School, of all abilities, take part in a wide-ranging programme of PE and games as part of the curriculum. Experience of games also enables a child to grow in confidence and stature. Team-building and representing Quainton Hall School are important too. Fun, camaraderie and good sportsmanship permeate all that we do in this important area. Our strong House structure enables children to play in sport's competitions throughout the year. We maintain a healthy fixture list with other schools, with matches organised from the age of 6. We know, however, that our boys will go to senior schools, where there is an ever greater choice of sports and activities and we aim to provide a range of games and activities for them to sample, but we also seek to enable a boy to find something at which he can excel. We have a five-a-side court on site for training purposes and for some matches. Otherwise we make good use of the various playing-fields, tennis courts and cricket-nets in the area. All boys have access to our indoor swimming-pool throughout the year, either in lesson time or as an activity. We encourage them to work for swimming awards from the start and by the age of 12+ they can provide an extremely competitive school swimming team. From the age of seven each boy is expected to take part in at least one extra-curricular activity from the wide range on offer. His contribution to this aspect of school life is noted in his report and in those reports we supply to senior schools. Quainton boys are welcomed at senior schools for a wide variety of reasons, not least because they are team-players and join in! Copyright (c) 2009 Quainton Hall School All rights reserved. |
