Issue 13 - 31 March 2019

Dear Parents,

Music has been prominent in these last few weeks of term and this week has been the busiest. On Sunday we were treated to a concert in the Chapel with music including the jazz cantata Swingin’ Samson. The Choir sang fantastically and were accompanied by Mr Kellas on the organ and piano. These concerts take a considerable amount of rehearsing and the children should be applauded for their efforts and their talents.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, ninety children from PP1 to P6 performed in Miss Shah’s Musical Mash-up. It was a full house at both shows and we were certainly blown away by the performances. We had plays, songs, music and Bollywood dances. Thank you, Miss Shah!

This was followed on Thursday by the Inter-House music competition. I would like to thank Miss Bugden for agreeing to judge the event. Congratulations go to Combers for winning the event but, frankly, all the children were winners.

On the last day of term, we enjoyed the end of term concert with pieces by the orchestra and PP2 recorders, all fully supported by the fun choir. Mr Ellis deserves great praise for ensuring that all the music events were well prepared. Thank you!

I would like to thank all the parents who supported our Inter-House Cross Country on Wednesday morning. The weather was perfect for the children to run and it turned out to be a fantastic event. Well done to all the children for their efforts. I am always amazed by how much determination they put into this event. I also want to thank Mr Wood for organising the event and to the children who participated so well.

It was lovely to hand out several certificates for achievement at our final assembly. We rewarded all those who have represented the school in national competitions such as the Oxford University Salter’s Festival of Chemistry, the Primary Maths Challenge and the SATIPS General Knowledge Quiz to name a few.

We have had a great term with some impressive senior school results. We now turn our focus to the Trinity Term exams for P3 to P8 which take place in the week before half term. Your children will be receiving revision lists and exercise books to help them with revision for the upcoming exams. Please remember that the children will still have three weeks of revision time when they return next term. I would ask that all parents ensure that their children have a suitable rest this Easter time and are refreshed before the beginning of next term.

PP2 Unihoc

Here are our intrepid Unihoc players, having produced a great set of scores:

Apples 2 - 0 - Goals by Aadam and Abdullah
Bananas 1 -1 - Goal by Dheer
Carrots 3 -1 - Goals by Charan (x 2) and Haashim

Lost Property

There is a large quantity of lost property we have gathered during the last few weeks of term, all unidentified. We are investigating the possibility of running a second-hand uniform sale from next term but, in the meantime, if you have lost any items look into the office early on when we return after Easter.
