Issue 14 - 23 April 2019
From the Headmaster
I hope you all had an enjoyable and restful holiday. As Easter was so late this year, we all have to return ready to get straight back into work and start preparing for a short but very busy first half of the term.
On Thursday, the school will be hosting a Vintage Tea Afternoon, which will be a very civilised way to start the term. Please see the message later in this Herald.
A particular date of note for the diary for parents of children in P3, P4, P5 and P6 is the 9 May. Mrs Beevor, Mrs Khan and I will be hosting a Future Schools’ Evening which will not only give you an insight into the preparation we offer but also the school choices available to your children. There will be copies of useful notes from the evening for you to take home, as well as an opportunity for you to ask any questions. I hope to see as many of you as possible on that evening.
As a final reminder, I would like to mention that we will be returning in summer uniform on Thursday. Please remember your jumpers and I look forward to welcoming you all back on Thursday!
This was a superb show that the children were involved in at the end of the last term! Over the holiday I have had the chance to make some copies of the video which I recorded at the Wednesday afternoon performance. DVD copies of this are now available from the school office, in exchange for a suggested donation of £5 each. Don’t worry if they run out of copies in the office, I can always burn more!
QHS Charity Afternoon Tea - Very Last Chance
We are really looking forward to welcoming you at the QHS Charity Vintage Afternoon Tea on Thursday from 2.45. Tickets for the Full Afternoon Tea have now sold out but there are a few Drink and Cake tickets still available to purchase on the door. All proceeds will support the Toilet Twinning Charity and there will be collection boxes available on the door for any additional donations.
A selection of cakes will be on offer, including a smaller selection of eggless, vegan, gluten-free and diabetic cakes as well as eggless scones. We anticipate that the Tea will be at its busiest between 4 and 5 so please feel free to come earlier if you would prefer to avoid the crowds.
All Bake Off entries need to be brought into the school office at the start of school on Thursday. Please make sure that all entries include your child's name, class and a brief list of ingredients (No Nuts). Unfortunately we will be unable to accept any entries without these details as we will be unable to advise those attending the Tea of any allergens if the ingredients are not included. Miss Berry will select the prize winners in the morning and all entries will be included as part of the Tea in the afternoon, where the prize winners will be notified.
Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the afternoon, with the draw taking place at 5.30pm. Any prize winners who have left before the draw will be notified separately. Raffle prizes include Afternoon Tea for two at The Doll's House on the Hill and also at Sarah's in Harrow, food vouchers from local producers and professional bakers as well as bespoke cakes, cupcakes and beauty products.
