Issue 15 - 26 April 2019

From the Headmaster

Dear Parents,

It was a busy start to the Trinity Term with a highlight being the Charity Vintage Afternoon Tea. I have to thank the children, parents and staff for making this such a special event. We were inundated with cakes from children in Reception through to the senior part of the school. So much so, that not all the cakes could be eaten on the day. On Friday we held a cake day at school and the staff, in particular, were very grateful for the end of the week treats! Thank you so much for all the generous donations.

What stood out for me on Thursday was the pride that the children showed in presenting their masterpieces for Miss Berry to judge. Many have found a new talent that they perhaps never knew existed and it was a privilege to hand out the prizes in assembly this morning. The School community was certainly united in its baking and we are hugely grateful to you all for your support and efforts in aid of the Toilet Twinning Charity. Thank you.

Our keen runners travelled to Aldenham today and I eagerly await the results. Something to expect in next week’s Herald!

Musical Mashup

What a superb show this was at the end of the last term!  Over the holiday I have had the chance to make some copies of musical mashupthe video which I recorded at the Wednesday afternoon performance.  DVD copies of this are now available from the school office, in exchange for a suggested donation of £5 each.  Don’t worry if they run out of copies in the office, I can always burn more!

QHS Charity Afternoon Tea

This was such a successful event! As you may remember we are raising money this term for ‘Toilet Twinning’, a charity committed to providing hygienic latrine facilities to areas in Africa and the Indian sub-continent. Each toilet costs £60 to install, and I am very pleased to announce that the profit from the Vintage Tea Party should allow us to fund at least 12 toilets! Once we have held our Big Breakfast, which will raise more funds for this great cause, I will publish more photos and a final total onto the QHS Website.

Thank you so much for all your contributions, by attending, by helping or by baking some wonderful goodies!

Big Battery Hunt

Ms Campion wants to remind everyone:
Please continue to collect those used batteries which may be lurking around your home.  House points will be given to those who bring in their box full to me!  We need to send in the batteries we have collected during half-term, so please return any boxes and their contents by the end of this half of the term, 24 May. big battery hunt
